Crafting Tomorrow’s Leaders in Unionized Maintenance

ABOUT THE AWARD

The GPMC/NMC Apprentice of the Year Award is a nationwide program that acknowledges two exemplary unionized maintenance apprentices employed under our collective agreements, representing Eastern Canada and Western Canada respectively. This award, in partnership with Milwaukee Tool, honours outstanding achievement in safety leadership, advanced technical proficiency, professionalism, and a demonstrated dedication to the skilled trades.

ELIGIBILITY

• Registered apprentices in unionized skilled trades under GPMC|NMC collective agreements
• Typically in the latter half of their apprenticeship (exceptional early-term apprentices may be considered)
• Demonstrated excellence in safety, technical skill, leadership and professionalism

NOMINATION AND SELECTION

Nominations open early in 2026. Employers submit nomination packages including letters of support, pictures and optional videos. Winners are selected by a committee representing employers, unions, and clients, and announced at the CS2A ceremony on October 20, 2026 in Edmonton, Alberta.
